Shanghai-born supermodel Du Juan, the first Asian model to grace the cover of French Vogue, welcomes the Year of the Rat with an exclusive interview and photo shoot in the February issue of Prestige Hong Kong.
Named one of the top ten models in the world to watch by Style.com, Du discusses growing up in China, her passion for fashion and her involvement in the recent US$10 million Fendi on the Great Wall show, staged by internationally celebrated designer Karl Lagerfeld.
“The fact that it was staged at the Great Wall made it really one of a kind,” she says. “The atmosphere and the anticipation for this event were electric. It was also very cold.”
Of her passion for fashion, Du confides: “Fashion must be fun. That doesn’t mean I don’t take my work seriously. To be successful in anything you need tremendous discipline. First and foremost I love what I do. Doing something you like makes a big difference. It’s not just fashion. It’s everything.”
